Home Furnishings In The Hamptons: Bringing A Lot To The Table….

Water Mill Shoppes - Home Furnishings Map

I love hot spots. Meaning areas where a retail theme emerges because of what must be continued success. Car dealers, for example, like to go near each other and it’s worked out quite well on 11th Avenue in Manhattan. Furniture stores, too. Or Soho has become a worldwide fashion district and place where luxury brands and happening fashion brands want to be.
On Long Island’s East End there are around 125 home furnishings stores that exist throughout the Hamptons. Interesting names that appear on the landscape are Missoni, Home, Williams Sonoma, and they just opened a Pottery Barn in Southampton, Restoration Hardware, Urban Archeology, and some great local merchants. These include Hildreth’s, Rumrunner, Loaves & Fishes, Thayer Hardware, and Country Gear.
I just noticed in the main local publication in the Hamptons, Dan’s Papers, that Serena & Lily, the happening web-based home furnishings retailer, are keeping their summer pop up store open for what appears to be a regular fulltime store. Great instincts on their part, a West Coast operation opens a pop up in the Hamptons and decides to keep it open beyond the season. I guess Home Furnishings out on Long Island’s East End must do well.
