Downtown Brooklyn: It’s A Great Story That Doesn’t Stop

In the last 60 days, we have signed leases in Brooklyn with such retailers as Nordstrom Rack, Lululemon, Pure Barre, and Sephora who signed at Brooklyn Heights Plaza (see photo). There are two Whole Foods, Uniqlo, and J.Crew all under construction. There are also many other exciting chains looking and deciding how they will penetrate Brooklyn. Retailers are making their mark in many of the neighborhoods such as Williamsburg, Dumbo, Gowanus, Fort Greene, Carol Gardens, and Boerum Hill.

We have started to lease City Point (see photo), which is in the middle of all the action and will be anchored by an 180,000 square foot Century 21 Department Store. There are going to be very interesting opportunities for specialty retailers to locate in a beautiful and enclosed environment. Since it is new construction, it will also allow for a retailer to have a prototypical looking store.

With the pace of the residential activity, Barclay’s Arena, the success of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Brooklyn Tech Triangle growing rapidly – it is safe to say Brooklyn will continue its incredible pace of growth and success.
